Smeal alumni and friends:
March and April are a particularly exciting time of year for Smeal. We’re visiting with many of you at alumni events such as Impact Smeal Day and the Hammond Society Recognition Dinner, which took place last week, and the upcoming Leaders Celebration, which will recognize philanthropic support from our dedicated alumni and friends.
I also want to remind you of the Powerful Women Paving the Way conference coming up on April 24-25. This professional development opportunity is organized by our Women in Business student group and provides:
- Networking opportunities, including a reception with CEO and founder of Lion’esque Group Melissa Gonzalez
- Keynote talks from Bob Moritz of PwC, Beth Brooke of EY, and Karen Carter of BP
- Professional breakout sessions on topics such as business communications and emotional intelligence in technology and business
Finally, I’d like to share with you a bit of our progress in the strategic planning process. The plan will be built around our vision of being recognized as one of the very best business schools in the world, and our mission is to provide extraordinary education, impactful research, engaged service, and a community guided by values of honor, diversity, and respect. Discussions on deeper issues and themes are ongoing and will continue through the end of June; I look forward to sharing more information in the coming months.
As always, there are many ways for you as alumni to get involved here at Smeal. Keep up with what's happening through social media—follow us on Facebook and Twitter or join the Smeal alumni group on LinkedIn—view the latest news on our website, or sign up for the new Penn State Smeal College of Business Newswire to have the latest news delivered to your inbox each week. We hope to hear from you or see you soon.
